May 2018

Some time ago I had a dream where something similar happened to me. Don’t worry, I’m fine.

I was interested in trying the technique of rotoscoping, which for obvious reasons I do not think I’ll use again in personal projects (every second there are 6 frames, six drawings, and it’s a very slow process).
A part from that, the inspiration of the dream gave me the idea to represent the existentialism discourse in a very simple, clear and “gimmicky” way. A boy is quietly reading in his house, he hears something outside, goes out onto the terrace and is absorbed by a black hole. Loud and clear. For me it represents the “volatility” (in catalan, my native language, “volar” means fly) of life, just as the existential void, conceptualized by the black hole, can come to anyone, suddenly and without warning.
